Hope Knight Garner, originally from Centerville, Texas, received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University in 1996. She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1999.
Hope provides the firm trial experience in personal injury, civil litigation, criminal law and family law.
After graduating from South Texas College of Law in 1999, Hope worked in civil litigation in Houston. She handled cases in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
In 2006, Hope opened her own practice in Huntsville where she handled personal injury, family and criminal law.
Governor Rick Perry appointed Hope to serve as Leon County District Attorney in January 2015. She filled her predecessor’s remaining two years and was elected by the citizens of Leon County in 2016.
After serving as district attorney, Hope returned to private practice in Huntsville.
Hope is frequently hired by other attorneys to serve as local counsel in Walker, Leon and Madison Counties.Hope is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Walker County Bar Association where she has served as President, Vice President and CLE Director. In her spare time, Hope enjoys spending time with her family, reading and gardening.
